Sustainable lifestyle

With the increased public awareness of climate change, moving towards sustainability is at the forefront of many of our minds. Despite that, we also cannot deny the inertia that's present, the discipline needed to break old habits and adopt more sustainable practices.

“We don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly.
We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.” Anne Marie Bonneau, Zero Waste Chef.

We just have to bear in mind that "every little bit counts". We looked back at how we kickstarted our eco journey, and came up with these 3 simple and manageable areas to start with.

1. Start from your kitchen

Open up your cabinets or drawers. Do you see cling wraps or resealable plastic bags? No, you are not going to dump it. Just tell yourself that this is going to be the last box and switch to reusable alternatives once you've emptied them. Swap to our customers' favourite products that are also reviewed as 'money-saving'!

  • Mojo Silicone Bags: Yes, we have all tried to reduce our guilt by washing and reusing ziplock plastic bags. But with every use, it turns more wrinkly and just when you are marinating meat in the bags, a hole appears. Not with the durable Mojo Silicone Bags, which are also microwave, sous vide and freezer friendly! (You can read our tips here on how to care for our reusable bags.)

  • Silicone Stretch Lids: What we love most about these Silicone Stretch Lids is that they come in various sizes, and are stretchable! From canned food to rice bowls, soup bowls, plates and even cups, it isn't often when we couldn't find a right Silicone Stretch Lid that fits. Goodbye, cling wrap.

    2. When you head out for grocery run

Truth is, it does take a period of time to develop the habit of BYO (bring your own) shopping bags, and there will be times when your memory slips. It's OK.

But here's our personal hack to ensure you don't forget your reusable shopping bag - always keep them in the car, or if you don't drive, keep them in your bag. You can also place them near your house entrance and simply grab them as you go.

Check out our range of Provision Mesh Produce Bags and Provision Mesh Tote Bags, which are fashionable add-ons for your next grocery run.

    3. When you dabao food, or pack snacks on-the-go

Make an effort to SAY NO to single-use packaging when you order your food next time, and BYO. Trust me, the hawker will thank you too.

Be it bringing the containers from your previous takeaway, or using reusable ones like our Lejos Silicone Collapsible Lunch Box, remember small moves like this can make a difference.
